Employment Retired from Bryan Independent School District for over 20
years. After retirement she took on a new adventure in her life,
doing Private Healthcare Provider.
Enjoyed cooking, and taking care of her family, going to the casino, just enjoying family
gathering and life with her children, grandchildren and friends
Preceded in death by, her parents, two daughters; Lynn Hunter and Timika “Tamail”
Williford; one granddaughter, Jasmine Johnson; two grandsons, Ernest Taylor and Steve
Williford, Jr.; three sisters, Helen Newton, Lemara Wilson, and Lovie Jewel Newton; five
brothers, Dennis Newton, Charles Newton, James Newton, Billy Joe Newton and Lawrence
Newton.
Survirors, husband, Sam Smith, Jr.; six daughters, Thelma Hanks (Melvin, II), Beverly
Hunter (Chequitu), Minnie James (Ronnie), Lee Hunter, Latonya Hunter, all of Bryan,
Texas and Nicole Hunter of Dallas, Texas.
Four sons, Robert Hunter, Ernest Hunter, Cedric Smith, all of Bryan, and Glen Newton
(Melinda) of Hempstead, Texas; seven sisters, Shirlry Childs, Christella Newton Bedford-Davis(Charles)
and Debra Newton Rivers (Larry)
Newton, Gloria Newton, Gladys Brown, Lindon Kaye Thornton and Connie Thornton;
seven brothers, Earnest Newton of California, Donald Ray Newton, Dwayne Newton,
Archie Newton (Velma), Winston Thornton (Cathy) of Wichita Falls, Travis Jones and
Billy Joe Newton; twenty-six grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-
grandchildren, three special aunts, Lizzie Shaw, Mable Turner and Callie Turner; and ahost of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
