Minister Dorothy Evon Dove Phillips was born January 6, 1961 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth Dove. She was the thirteenth of fourteen children.
Raised in a Christian home in Bryan, Texas, Dorothy, in her younger years attended United Baptist Church under the
leadership of the late Rev. U.L. Green.
She attended Bryan High School and went on to graduate with a Certificate in Cullinary Arts through Blinn College. She was known for her delicious pound cakes.
Dorothy became an Ordained Minister in 2001 under the leadership of Bishop Milton Gooden, Sr., New Testament Pentecostal Church in 2013. She received a Certificate of Recognition of Exccellence for years of service in Gospel singing ministry. Dorothy sang with Voices of Joy and New Testament Singers. She was under the leadership of Pastor
Bennie Greene, Holy Temple of Jesus Christ #8, Caldwell, Texas.
On November 6, 2010 she married Elder Ernest Phillips, Sr. until his health failed.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elder Ernest Phillips, Sr., her parents, Joseph Dove, Sr. and Elizabeth Dove; five sisters, Lillie Dove, Margaret Lewis, Elizabeth Dove, Sylvia Gordon and Barbara Young; two brothers, Sylvester Dove and Joseph Dove, Jr.; great-grand- son, Khalil Amir Dove.
She leave to cherish her memories, two sons, Michael Wayne Dove and Christopher Scott; one daughter, Ashley Johnson; twelve grandchildren; one godson, Shannon Harris; one sister-in-law, Virginia Phillips of Midland, Texas; four sisters, Maggie Williams of Dallas, Texas, Beulah Graham of Houston, Texas, Freddie Scott (Oliver) of Texas City, Texas, Tracy Thomas (Brent) of Pflugerville, Texas; two brothers, Charles Dove of Bryan, Texas and Jessie Dove (Sharon) of Houston,Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 29th, 2023 2:30P.M at Daniel & Son Funeral Home located at 401 W 18th Street Bryan, Texas77803
